Coffee gift questions
How early should I order a coffee gift for the holidays?
Orders are freshly roasted and shipped within 3–4 business days (Monday through Friday, not counting the day we receive the order). Allow an extra 1–2 days during busy periods and holidays, and note we're closed weekends and major holidays. After it ships, delivery time depends on the carrier, so order well ahead of the day you need it.
Which roast should I choose for a coffee lover?
If you're not sure, Ginger (medium roast) is the safest pick. Choose Black Cat for someone who likes bold, dark coffee or milk drinks, Dilute Calico for pour-over and lighter cups, and White Cat for a decaf drinker. Still stuck? Send two or three bags as a gift set.
Should I give whole bean or ground coffee?
Every bag comes as Whole Bean or Drip (GROUND). Choose whole bean if they own a grinder or brew espresso or French press; choose drip ground if they use a regular drip coffee maker and don't grind at home. More in our whole bean vs. ground guide.
How long does a coffee subscription gift last?
There are no prepaid 3-, 6- or 12-month plans. A subscription delivers every 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 weeks at 15% off the one-time price and keeps going until you cancel. It stays on your Green Shades account and each delivery is charged to your card, so you decide how long the gift runs and pause or cancel it from your account.
Can I ship a coffee gift straight to the recipient?
Yes. Enter their name and address as the shipping address at checkout. Tracking is emailed automatically once the order ships.
What if they don't drink regular coffee?
White Cat is our Swiss Water processed decaf. For tea drinkers we also carry a small curated selection of teas from Birchall and Hampstead, from $12.25 a box, such as Peppermint Leaves and Jasmine Tea Pearls.
